As the doors opened for The Cannabis Expo this morning, 24 March 2023, at GrandWest in Cape Town, the expo representatives have made their way to the steps of Parliament to deliver a case of DOPE to City officials.

The incident came after the City of Cape Town banned the use of a cannabis-blowing hotbox machine at The Cannabis Expo, which runs now until Sunday 26 March 2023. The City has raised the risk category of the event to medium, causing the organisers to try to calm the situation down by inviting lawmakers to attend the event and relax a little.
‘We have delivered case of CBD-infused dope water to the good people at parliament as a peace offering and to let them know that “every little thing is gonna be alright”,’ says expo organiser, Silas Howarth, quoting the legendary cannabis enthusiast Bob Marley. ‘The expo has opened with record numbers already through the door by 11am this morning, and regardless of the political moves, everyone is enjoying themselves and celebrating this incredible and versatile plant.’
With over 150 exhibitors featuring thousands of cannabis products and services from around the world, and back-to-back panel discussions and presentations on the Convention Stage throughout, organisers are anticipating this to be the biggest cannabis event they have put on to date. The highly popular Freedom Festival is a mainstay of The Cannabis Expo featuring the country’s top DJs and artists situated by the Cannabis Food Market, where revellers can sample cannabis-infused treats, dishes and drinks while basking in top tunes and quality vibes.
“Politicians are encouraged to remember that the cannabis industry is innovative and rapidly growing and has the potential to deliver a huge economic windfall to South Africa. Their focus should be on opening and fostering further growth for this exciting industry and creating a cannabis economy that works for all”, says Howarth.
