If you are not into chick flicks and are looking for something thought-provoking on the box, watch “Sodium Day” on Netflix.
The satire is based on an eventful day at a Cape Flats high school.
The movie director, Riaz Solker, tells a dark story of a poor school, its day-to-day challenges as part of the community and as an entity plus individual pupil struggles through the use of subtle comedy.
“Sodium Day” uses local accents and slang to highlight the lack of sufficient education in poverty-stricken schools. The movie has however left many locals with mixed feelings.
Watch 12Y matric students deal the hands they are traded as they interact with each other, deal with violence and sex, privileged visitors and nonchalant teachers.
