Wine tasting in Cape Town is like a national sport. Every weekend, thousands of Capetonians head to their favourite wine farm, glass in hand, to sample a range of the sweetest and driest flavours available along some popular wine routes.
While there’s nothing quite like taking in the mesmerising views of sprawling vineyards while enjoying a glass of red wine in your hand and trying to do a balancing act, I always find myself looking for unique ways to experience this regular weekend activity, writes Cape {town} Etc’s Lynn Cupido.
Well, it doesn’t get more unique than creating your own wine. Wine-making is an extremely complex process, but Bellevue Wine Estate is giving wine lovers a peek behind the curtain with their Master Wine-making experience, something that is as unique as they come – yay!
The day kicks off with the sweet aromas of Bellevue Rosé with guests being treated to a complimentary glass before taking a tour of the vineyards which are currently being harvested. Enjoy a picture-perfect view of the iconic Heritage Cape Dutch Manor, a historic sight given that it was constructed in 1803, a perfect little addition for all those history buffs out there.
Wash off the grape juice and sample four of Bellevue’s reds, before having the opportunity to blend and bottle your very own Cape Blend and take it home with you!
Now tell me this isn’t a unique and fun activity to experience with friends, family or both!
Tickets start at R350 – a steal for all the incredible wine opportunities you get to enjoy. Tickets are available online, so make sure that you grab your ticket before the weekend rolls around, here.
