Alfonzo Williams, who was born and raised at Goede Hoop Wine Estate, attended Bottelary Primary School. Unfortunately, like many other rural youths, he could not complete his tertiary education. Now at the age of 21, Alfonzo has been left with limited options in life, providing a few rather grim outcomes.
However, this story has a happy ending. In 2018, Alfonzo was given the opportunity to become a member of a local alien clearing team where he completed his chainsaw training, and he has not looked back since. He soon showed leadership skills that earned him the position of on-site supervisor, while he was also co-opted into the mountain bike trail maintenance team, Trail-Blazers.
Bottelary Hills Conservancy & MTB Trail has a vision to give Alfonzo his very own mountain bike and for him to join their marshal team for route patrols and guided rides. Every cent towards your bike board of choice brings the team a step closer to making Alfonzo’s dream a reality.
Bidding closes at midnight on November 29. Simply message Bottelary Hills on Facebook messenger with your number of choice and offer. Let’s make this happen for Alfonzo!
