While watching a huge pod of dolphins at Kalk Bay yesterday morning, 30 November, Nanette Smith captured a Bronze Whaler shark joining in on the jumping action by leaping out of the water. What a marvellous sight to have witnessed.

Let’s take a closer look at the Bronze Whaler Shark showing off:

The Bronze whaler or Copper shark is part of the requiem shark family. These sharks have streamlined bodies with long-rounded torpedo-like snouts, which makes them extremely fast in the water. They have a bronze/gold colouration on the top of their bodies and their underbellies are white. Their colouration is known as countershading and camouflages them from predators and prey.
