Another Cape Town spot has made it onto a coveted list, this time of the “Best Dive Bars in the World”. This proves just how awesome the Mother City’s offerings are, even on an international level.

Big 7 Travel put together a list of the best dive bars in the world. For a short time, the charm and appeal of dive bars were forgotten by the public but the trend seems to have made a return in recent years with more and more people opting for a night out on the town at a dive bar.

“Dive bar” is an American colloquialism which originally was used to describe a disreputable bar where people from all walks of life could go for a good time. Over the years the terms has evolved but essential is still used to describe a watering hole that attracts all kinds of people and offers an edgy atmosphere.

Roughly 1.5-million community members cast their vote on a poll to determine who will make the list. Reviews and online ratings were also considered in the compilation of the ultimate dive bar list.
