Good Things Tattoo in Woodstock is running a flash tattoo special this weekend to raise awareness for gender-based violence and rape culture.

The flash tat special is happening from 10am onwards on September 13 and 14. All tattoos will cost R800, with part of the proceeds going to the Rape Crisis Center in Salt River. The special will run on a first come, first serve basis, and no bookings will be accepted.

Those who do not want tattoos but want to support the initiative may donate to Rape Crisis on their website or drop off blankets, bathrobes, slippers, hot water bottles, along with other comfort items.

“As a country we need to take our power back from those cowardly and twisted individuals who would make us all live in fear,” they wrote on their Facebook page.

Here are some of the tattoos that will be available:

Good Things Tattoo is also joining other Cape Town establishments by instating a “come in policy” for women.

“We are also adopting a #comein policy in our local community of Woodstock which is a high crime area in Cape Town for anyone who feels unsafe. We will order you an Uber, walk you to your car, call a friend and make sure you are safe.”
