One of the many reasons why we love Cape Town is because there’s always a new adventure to look forward to, and this magical experience is no different!
So gather your troops and get ready to paint the sky with bold colours and showcase the most creative designs as it leads up to the Hybrid 27th Cape Town International Kite Festival.
But this is not just your regular kiting event! Here you’ll have the opportunity to fly for hope and mental wellness to make the statement that #EveryoneDeservesToFly, in support of Cape Mental Health.
The goal is to raise over R100 000,00 to enable this non-profit organisation to continue providing essential free mental healthcare services while ensuring that everyone can enjoy equality in an unequal world.
Be part of this amazing initiative, make a difference and reach greater heights in this year’s interactive event that combines real-life open-air kite-flying with online kite-making workshops, competitions and videos. Talk about an event that has it all!
Join kiters all over the globe and fly your kite at the Hybrid 27th Cape Town International Kite Festival, anywhere and anytime between 2 and 31 October (the perfect time to head outdoors and enjoy the tranquillity that comes with watching a kite soar in the sky).
Share your photos, videos and messages of encouragement, tagging #EveryoneDeservesToFly and @CTKiteFest, and feature on the official CTKiteFest social feeds while helping to raise awareness and funds for Cape Mental Health.
You’ll also be able to access all CTKiteFest online content including a variety of kite-making workshops to channel your inner creative spirit! Get inspired by the magic of soaring kites with activities for the little ones, or let your imagination fly high with a creative innovation competition! Either way – there’s something for everyone!
The cherry on top of all this excitement is that Cape Mental Health invites you to view kites at Dolphin Beach on October 10, which is World Mental Health Day, and at Zandvlei Nature Reserve on October 23. Enjoy fresh air, wear a green outfit of your choice and plan a ‘flash fly’ (social distancing style of course).
The Cape Town International Kite Festival is the oldest kiting event in Africa and has been proudly hosted by Cape Mental Health since 1994, to raise funds and promote mental wellness.
