Steam train enthusiasts and market lovers unite because Elgin’s favourite market is bringing back its main attraction. Elgin’s popular steam train will be making a comeback after a hiatus due to COVID-19.
Nestled amongst the lush greenery and stunning Overberg mountains, Elgin provides the perfect weekend escape for those looking to enjoy views, good food and steam trains. The Elgin Railway market has become the glimmering jewel in the crown of this sprawling countryside, offering a family-friendly space for those looking to spend some time meandering through aisles of handmade goodies.
A ride through the countryside is made even better by Elgin’s famous steam train. This incredible experience departs to Elgin from the Harbour Bridge Hotel in the Foreshore district, travelling through Sir Lowry’s Pass and offering mesmerising views along the way. Think grazing cows, bleating sheep and rolling hills.
Enjoy a three-hour train ride, which eventually makes its stop at the Elgin station and right on the doorstep of the bustling steampunk-themed Elgin Railway Market. Along with indulging in some mouth-watering food and blowing your salary on a selection of incredible clothing, accessories and art, visitors also have the chance to get down to some live music.
A range of seating is available on the train, including bar lounge seating, day seating and family compartments. Spend your Saturday staring into the eyes of your lover for a romantic trip along the countryside, or keep the kids entertained.
