Asandé, in Zulu means ‘abundance’, and in the Congo, ‘a people who possess much land’. Creating more for both these countries and their plights is the driving force behind Georgi Kapepula, founder of Asandé.
30% of all jewellery sales go to a women’s empowerment project in DR Congo, and locally, Asandè works with women from the community looking to create a brighter future for themselves and their families.
To further support the Rape Crisis Cape Town Trust, they are also selling their beautiful limited edition W.A.R necklace featuring a sterling silver chain and circle pendant plated with 18k gold. It is engraved with their W.A.R emblem which holds a fynbos plant (representing South Africa), surrounded by stars taken from the Congolese flag.

Through purchasing this beautiful pendant and limited edition tote bag, customers are standing with rape victims across Africa as well as raising funds as all profits go to rape crisis centres to help them continue their amazing work.
The ‘Sip ‘n Learn’ virtual event will take place on Women’s Day, August 9 2021. The virtual event is catered to anyone wanting to make a difference in what seems to be a never-ending crisis facing the women of Africa. All profits from ticket sales will be donated to the Rape Crisis Cape Town Trust (SA) and The Mother’s Union (DRC) assisting in the support of rape victims.
Speakers at ‘Sip ‘n Learn’ will include Ripe Crisis Cape Town Trust (RCCTT) representative; change agent and communications specialist in the financial sphere, Nande Boss and Asandé founder, Georgi Kapepula.

- and the opportunity to shop merchandise where proceeds go toward the relief of rape victims.
“The rape crisis in South Africa and beyond is often an overwhelming topic for people to address, let alone find resolve; that’s why at Asandé our goal is to bridge the gap between the issue and those willing to bring resolution. We are passionate about empowering African women and we care deeply about the rape epidemic in South Africa and in the Democratic Republic of Congo. With this event, we want to engage our audience and offer practical ways for them to make a difference,” says Kapepula.
Through this virtual event and several other endeavours carried out through Asandé, financial support is provided to those who are on the ground making a difference in the lives of rape survivors and bringing change to our justice systems.
