Another leopard seal travelled to Long Beach, Kommetjie this Friday- a rarely spotted species on our local shores, having travelled from Antarctic waters!

The leopard seal is only the second of its kind to visit our shores this entire winter- and the best news? Our little friend is still in town, as of today.

The area around the leopard seal princess (it is a female) has been safely cornered off for its safety, and for that of onlookers.

Naturally, the seal is not familiar with land creatures such as ourselves and could react unpredictably in a contact situation.
Protectors are in place via Shark Spotters.
As for the first leopard seal (also a female) the ocean’s baby was seen in Kommetjie last month. It was then seen on the beach in Yzerfontein as well.
