Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, the beloved activity that has most of us feeling on top of the world, is taking a little break for a while.
The Cableway company recently announced that it’s time for its annual maintenance shutdown, set to return for five weeks from 2 July to 28 August 2022.
TMAC announced that rides will be closed on the upper and lower stations, as well as each of its cabins.
“Shutdowns are essential to ensure the best and safest Cableway experience for all of our visitors,” said TMAC.
While the champion of experiences taking some maintenance time is a little bit of a pouting moment (especially for those who would’ve loved a birthday excursion), TMAC also came with some awesome news.
It has been nominated for two world travel awards, for both Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction and Africa’s Responsible Tourism Award. Voters can bring it home by voting at www.worldtravelawards.com/vote, and four lucky voters can even win 2 return tickets to the Cableway.
Take a screenshot after casting your vote and send it to [email protected] to ensure you can be counted in the lucky draw.
More good news, is that hikers are still welcome to explore Table Mountain by foot, and the new TAP Bar is still going to be open.
