Yesterday, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway welcomed its 31 millionth visitor since its inception in 1929.
The milestone visitor was Gerda Pretorius, a Bloemfontein resident visiting Cape Town with her husband, and it happened to be her first return to Table Mountain in over three decades.
Upon the couple’s arrival at the cableway station yesterday morning, Gerda was singled out of the queue, informed of her status as the 31 millionth visitor and given a special gift hamper.
Since opening on 4 October 4, 1929, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway has been a key feature of Cape Town, offering 360-degree views of the city from its sharp ascent up the mountain.
Visitors planning to experience the cableway are advised to purchase tickets online for convenience. However, it’s important to note that queues are still expected on busy days.
In addition to the cable car experience, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) opened VISTA in September 2023.
This venue, situated at the summit, offers a spectacular setting for both local and international guests looking to host special events.
