If you’ve ever been intrigued by the idea of speed dating, then get ready to quite literally take the concept to new heights at the finest table of them all – Table Mountain.
The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company is setting the scene this Valentine’s Day with its first-ever speed dating event dubbed ‘Dating Above the Clouds’ – and we’re swooning with heart eyes.
For three nights, singles will get to mingle atop one of the most romantic settings in the world, which has fueled many proposal moments in the past. You’ll travel up the cableway, enjoy two complimentary drinks and a selection of snacks (because if the match-making doesn’t pan out, you can at least count on delicious cuisine) from Korean fried chicken tacos and kale to butternut pasta and other mouthwatering options.
Good Hope FM’s Dalin Oliver will be your wingman in the form of an MC and help ease those first date jitters with a splash of comedy and some icebreakers.
When:
The event will unfold over two hours and run for three consecutive nights between 14-16 February (if the weather plays its part).
The game plan:
Each night will have a specific theme:
- 14 February: Hetero singles
- 15 February: LGBTQ+ Singles
- 16 February: Seasoned Singles (for people aged 50+)
Speed-dating is fast-paced, and participants will only have a few minutes per date to make a ‘good first impression’. After the event, those whose profiles matched will be able to contact each other to arrange second dates.
Further details:
Tickets are naturally limited and cost R500 each (including the complimentary drinks, food and the return ticket for the cableway). Only 28 tickets will be available each night to accommodate 14 pairs for the speed dating rounds.
“This month, we are bringing a new and fun way for all to enjoy this world-famous landmark. We hope this unique experience will draw more locals to the mountain for an exciting way to find love, or at least for a fun way to spend Valentine’s Day,” says Giselle Esau, Executive Head of Brand and Marketing at TMACC.
For all events, TMACC will enforce all COVID-19 safety protocols to ensure the safety of visitors and staff members.
