To mark the occasion, ocean activities will be highlighted, as well as film screenings and the Wavescape Artboard Charity Auction.
When it first began in 2004, the organisation was known as the Wavescapes Film Festival.
It has since evolved into the Wavescape Surf and Ocean Festival, with the organisation focusing on community development, ocean conservation, and surf culture.
This year’s festivities will include outdoor and Deep South film screenings.
Meanwhile, beach clean-ups, a queer surf session, and the Wesgro Ocean Film Symposium are all scheduled to add to the festivities.
Another highlight will be the Wavescape Artboard Project, which will feature artistic surfboards for auction to benefit ocean charities.

Notable artists, including Brett Murray, Anton Butler, Stefan Smit, Toya and Jero Revett, have all contributed to the project by creating pieces that reflect the festival’s ethos as well as artwork that celebrates the beauty of the ocean.
The festival’s director, Shani Judes, is proud of the Artboard Project’s success, which has raised nearly R7 million for various ocean charities over the years.
The festival also hosts the Wesgro Ocean Film Symposium, which aims to support emerging filmmakers and promote adventure tourism.
Social media influencer Steve Shooter will cover the festival for his series ‘Shredding the Gnar’.
Steve Pike, the festival’s co-founder, affectionately known as Spike, is proud of what the Cape Town institution has become.
‘Using our unique convergence between the authenticity of surfing and beach lifestyle and the seriousness of ocean conservation, it is amazing how such a powerful platform for media advocacy has resonated with ocean-minded communities and brands,’ he said.
