The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow level 2 weather warning for damaging winds expected in the southwestern parts of the Western Cape from Friday night into Saturday morning, as well as in the Central Karoo, the Cape Winelands and southern Namakwa on Saturday.

Strong to near gale-force (50 to 60kph with gusts up to 70kph) north-westerly winds are expected over the southwestern coastal area Friday night into Saturday morning, according to the alert.
On Saturday, strong to near gale-force (40 to 60kph) north-westerly winds are expected to pick up over the central Karoo, eastern parts of the Cape Winelands and southern Namakwa.
The conditions may cause localised problems for high-sided vehicles on prone routes, as well as some disruptions to road and rail transport, localised damage to settlements and loss of agricultural production.
The weather warning is valid from 8pm on Friday, 2 June until 8pm on Saturday, 3 June.
