The Showcook (Mount Nelson, Reaching for Young Stars) Initiative offers hotel schools an opportunity to showcase their students’ skills and talents. The programme started earlier this year in March, and the Skills Exchange Programme concluded in June, after which participants went head-to-head in a competition.
False Bay TVET College competed against Capsicum Culinary School, the International Hotel School, Cape Town Hotel School, and other specialised hospitality service institutions, as per the college.
All participants received personalised mentorship, training and industry exposure from both local and international innovators and award-winning experts leading up to the competition.
False Bay TVET College’s participants each ranked in their respective categories. Lee Peploe received a special acknowledgement for achieving top results in the Cape Wine Academy and the Beverage Student of the Year.
