More police stations are currently under construction in areas of the Western Cape that are considered to be ‘experiencing high crime volumes’, according to a recently released police statement.
Specifically, construction is underway for two stations in Makhaza and Tafelsig.

Both police stations were visited for monitoring and evaluation reasons by SAPS management and the ministry of police led by General Bheki Cele on Tuesday, 12 March 2024.
Once completed, the Tafelsig station will be able to bring law enforcement services closer to Mitchells Plain residents.
There have been certain delays in the construction of the Tafelsig station due to the ‘community’s demands to fall part of the construction project’, but this has since been resolved.
The Makhaza police station is currently ’97 percent’ complete, and is intended to provide services to the community of Khayelitsha.
Both the Tafelsig and Makhaza stations, as well as stations in Browns Farm and Samora Machel, are expected to be completed by 2026.
