Jump onboard one of the trains from the Winelands Light Railway and go on a picturesque journey that will create fun memories for parents and children alike.
Winelands Light Railway is located on the R304 in Koelenhof, Stellenbosch after they first opened on 14 December 2019. A train ride lasts approximately seven minutes and takes riders on a 760 metre journey within their train park
Their park is specifically created to provide fun memories for the whole family. The picturesque journey can be enjoyed by the youngsters and be appreciated by the older folk too.
Jump onboard one of their trains at Park Station and experience a locally designed and built miniature railway. Steam trains will haul passengers between 11am and 3pm on the weekends. Their two electric engines, called Dozer and Fritz, will provide guests with the same unlimited amount of fun when the steam trains are off duty.
Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic baskets. There are beautiful, shaded lawns where families can relax and unwind. Please note that alcohol and braais are not permitted. The kiosk will provide a variety of snacks, refreshments and drinks such as coffee, milkshakes and slushies. Aniseed, the food vendor, serves a selection of food items on the weekends and public holidays.
The railway is open every weekend, long weekens and public holidays from 9am to 5pm, and open daily during the public school holiday from 9am to 5pm. The operation times are all weather dependent, so make sure to call ahead and find out beforehand.
