The politically outspoken puppet, along with his ‘handler’, ventriloquist and comedian Conrad Koch, will be performing in the city from 28 February to 2 March. The duo are sure to have the audience in stitches when they present their show, Baggage.
In this laugh-out-loud, feel-good explosion of comedic silliness, internationally acclaimed ventriloquist Conrad Koch wants to get personal about his Baggage. But his best friend, superstar puppet Chester Missing (who lives in actual baggage), has other plans. In his usual funny and irreverent way Chester thinks Conrad’s ‘problems’ are a joke.
In fact all the voices in Conrad’s head have bad and outrageous advice on everything: anxiety, climate change, dating, loadshedding and much much more. Meet the hilarious crew, including Hilton the booty shaking ostrich, and Mr Dixon, a retired high school teacher we can all relate to.

Baggage encapsulates the show’s overarching theme of accepting life’s challenges in a positive and playful manner.
It is a reminder that, regardless of our problems, we can choose to approach life with childlike curiosity and joy, discovering laughter and growth along the way.
‘This show is a very fun, joyful, silly, quirky version of what I do. And it’s what I’m leaning into almost entirely now,’ said Koch. ‘I’ve done some very hard-hitting political stuff in my time and for the most part, said what I have to say.’
The duo recently attended the State of the Nation Address (Sona), directing poignant questions at South Africa’s who’s who, pulling no punches, much to the bemusement of politicians and the amusement of onlookers.
Baggage will be on offer at Camps Bay’s Theatre on the Bay from 28 February at 7:30pm.
Tickets start from R160 and are available at Webticket.
