Kool & the Gang officially came together in 1969 and would go on to win two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, 9 Top Ten Pop hits, and 31 gold and platinum albums.
With iconic songs like ‘Celebration’, ‘Cherish’, ‘Jungle Boogie’, ‘Summer Madness’, and ‘Open Sesame’, they’ve earned their place as highly revered musicians.
Kool & the Gang has also performed continuously longer than ‘any R&B group in history’, and holds the title of the ‘most sampled R&B band of all time’, due to their unique musical arrangements.
The Earth, Wind & Fire Experience by Al McKay was conceived and rehearsed by Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum recording artist Al McKay. The performance includes an all-star line-up of legendary vocalists Tim Owens, DeVere Duckett, Claude Woods, and former EWF member Gregory Moore.
McKay, a former Earth, Wind & Fire guitarist, was a member of the band from 1973 to 1981.
He would team up with Maurice White, the group’s founder, to pen the band’s greatest hits, such as ‘September’ and ‘Sing A Song’, and also perform with the likes of Ike & Tina Turner and Sammy Davis Jr.
