Prepare to relive your childhood: Netflix has announced plans to start production on a series of animations based on some of Roald Dahl’s most popular books. In 2019, the streaming service will begin production on series adaptations of Matilda, The Big Friendly Giant, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and more.

Netflix released the news of its latest undertaking on social media in a quirky video clip. The clip shows a Willy Wonka Chocolate Bar as in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory unwrapping to reveal a movie ticket with the names of the Roald Dahl-inspired shows Netflix plans to air.

The post reads, “Netflix will adapt the Roald Dahl universe of stories as a new slate of animated event series. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and The BFG are just a few of the titles from the author’s beloved and award-winning library that will be reimagined for a new generation.”

Roald’s widow, Felicity Dahl, spoke with Forbes about the importance of spreading his story.

“Our mission, which is purposefully lofty, is for as many children as possible around the world to experience the unique magic and positive message of Roald Dahl’s stories,” she said.

Roald Dahl is known to many as a classic bedtime story author, and the creation of the animated series will ensure his work lives on.

Netflix’s vice president of kids and family content, Melissa Cobb, told E!Online that creating the content has been a whirlwind of fun.

“Immersing ourselves in the extraordinary worlds of Roald Dahl stories has been an honour and a massive amount of fun, and we are grateful for the trust the Roald Dahl Story Company and the Dahl family have placed in our team to deliver more moments of shared joy to families around the world,” said Cobb.

The popular streaming giant promises to keep the heart of Dahl alive in the new series.

“We have great creative ambition to reimagine the journeys of so many treasured Dahl characters in fresh, contemporary ways with the highest-quality animation and production values,” Cobb added.
