Actress Thuso Mbedu (31) is the talk of the town once again as she appears in her first big screen debut in the movie “The Woman King” movie.

The new Sony Pictures Entertainment movie currently premiering in cinemas worldwide was shot here in South Africa.
Mbedu casts alongside a celebrated influential black-women-lead cast consisting of Viola Davis, Lashana Lynch and Sheila Atim.
Mbedu became the first South African female lead in a television role in the US in The Underground Railroad in 2021 and continues to break boundaries.
This black woman-centred action film is a true story retelling the tale of the Agojie tribe that had a king’s guard consisting of women who fought to protect their land.
Mbedu plays an authority-defying teenager, Nawi, who joins the army instead of getting married as per her father’s orders. A role she gives gravitas and is magnetic in according to The Empire.
“The Woman King” is a must-watch and showing at Nu Metro and Ster-Kinekor.
