The gala was initially meant to have 300 guests, but PBS had to add extras due to high demand and tickets selling out fast.
Various people will be at the congress, including corporate leaders, academics, diplomats, economists and ministers.
The event starts this evening in Nasrec and will run straight through 20 December.
Below is a brief of the ticket packages that were on offer:
- The titanium package was on sale for R1 200 000 per table: This guaranteed six main seats at the presidential gala.
- Next was the Platinum package that was on sale for R990 000 for one table. Perks included are six seats at the second main table at the Presidential Gala dinner.
- Finally, the Gold Package – there were only three tables – sold for R760 000. These will be hosted by an ANC Chairperson, ANC Treasurer General or Gauteng Chairperson, at the Presidential Gala Dinner.
According to The Sowetan, this is “a programme of the ANC, mandated to promote and enhance liaison between government, the ANC and business. It functions under the auspices of the treasurer-general office.”
