The concert at Kirstenbosch will focus on paying homage to important contributors in opera. The powerful orchestration and magical choral singing fuse to create an inspiring performance.
Soloists Brittany Smith, Conroy Scott and Lukhanyo Moyake will blow you away with stellar vocal range and ability.
Under Marvin Kernelle’s musical direction, the event will feature Verdi’s “Overture” and the “Slave Chorus” from Nabucco, Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly”, Beethoven’s “9th”, Bizet’s “Pearl Fishers” and more.
The Cape Town Opera functions as an expression of modern national identity by blending operatic classics with new South African works.
“The City of Cape Town is proud to partner with Kirstenbosch to showcase one of South Africa’s largest performing arts organisations,” says Alderman JP Smith, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security.
“We are incredibly excited to see the Cape Town Opera back at Kirstenbosch, mesmerising the crowd at such an incredible setting.”
