Following the approval of a new three-year agreement for the City to sponsor the much-loved event, MMC for Safety and Security JP Smith says City’s continuing support will contribute to the event organisers’ ambitions to increase attendance to 25 000.
‘For decades, the festival has been a platform for local traders, local suppliers, artists and organisations to make a living and promote their business,’ said Smith. ‘We would like to encourage residents to head over to Maynardville Park to support the festival.’
The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Services and Metro Police will also have exhibitions at the festival to showcase their capabilities and to interact with the public.
As part of the event’s corporate social investment initiative, it will sponsor and host the Heinz Park Primary School’s annual prom, which serves as an incentive to keep learners in school.
Strive Autism Learning Centre is also a beneficiary of this year’s festival.
