The Chairperson of the SANParks Honorary Rangers Table Mountain Region, Mr Kenneth Carden, expressed his gratitude for the partnership during the handover and emphasised the significance of providing mountain bicycles for the rangers, enabling them to conduct patrols in areas inaccessible by vehicles.
The donated bicycles are fully equipped with spare parts and a service plan. Olympic Cycles has committed to regular maintenance. This partnership will also allow further bike purchases for SANParks at reduced prices.
As SANParks heads into its busy season, the honorary rangers of the Table Mountain region have committed to support and join the rangers in conducting mountain bike patrols in various areas of the park.
TMNP Park Manager Megan Taplin said the bicycle donation came at the right time when the team is generally faced with diverse challenges in the park: ‘I’m truly grateful for this initiative of introducing mountain bicycles in the park. Thank you very much to the SHRs for securing this donation, which will facilitate the operations of the Marine Unit. The spares and service plan are a very useful addition too.’
‘Lastly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Olympic Cycles for this wonderful initiative,’ concluded Taplin.
