A decade ago, frontman Greg Gonzalez found himself heartbroken on Valentine’s Day, setting off on a journey that would inspire the essence of Cigarettes After Sex’s music.
Channelling the emotions of love and loss, Gonzalez envisioned crafting an album that resonated with the profound experiences of romantic turmoil.
Drawing from a deeply personal narrative, their forthcoming third album, ‘X’s’, delves into a singular relationship spanning four tumultuous years.

Gonzalez candidly shared, ‘The record feels brutal… I have to really write about it, sing about it, have the music, and then I can start to analyse and learn from it. Or just relive it – in a good way.’
While rooted in classic pop song structures, the band’s evolution towards a ’70s/’80s slow dance aesthetic marks a new chapter in their music.
