Council has approved the Events Department’s agreement to support Comic Con Cape Town in 2024, 2025 and 2026.
Comic Con Cape Town is the mother of all pop culture events, featuring four days of the best in gaming, comics, shopping, cosplay and international celebrities all under one roof.
The new agreement will take effect this year, with the event scheduled during Freedom Day week.

Following the success of its 2023 event, Comic Con Cape Town will add a fifth day this year to accommodate more fans.
Last year, the event provided trading opportunities for approximately 235 businesses in the exhibition and drew 27 484 attendees who spent more than R24 million in Cape Town.

‘The event exceeded all expectations and received the full buy-in of local, national and international audiences in 2023. As the City, we believe it will keep on building from here and our support will go a long way in ensuring that Comic Con Cape Town remains a go-to event for people of all age groups. Additionally, it has been encouraging to see the immediate impact the event has had on the economy and the expectation is that this trend will continue for years to come,’ said the City’s mayoral committee member for safety and security, JP Smith.

This year, the event organisers are planning to increase the number of exhibitors, providing opportunities for more local businesses and growing the attendance numbers.
Comic Con Cape Town will take place at CTICC 2 from 27 April to 1 May 2024.
