Put on your best Halloween costume, conceal your identity behind a mask or perhaps show off your face-painting skills and dare to explore the enchanted forest at Muratie Wine Estate with Dirtopia’s tenth Halloween Forest Night Run this Tuesday, 31 October 2023!

The Halloween Forest Night Run has been running since 2013 and if you have never been, you must experience Muratie’s beautiful singletrack in the dark and test your nerves with a work-out on contour trails, while dodging the ghosts…
Depending on your fitness and fear levels (kids and hikers welcome), the night run offers two routes: A shorter five-kilometre route will follow the same markers as the long distance to the ridge and central point at Gilloolys with a great view of where you’ll find the water point. Head down the HoChiMihn singletrack forest and hope you make it back to Muratie.
A longer ten-kilometre route consists of an extra loop after the refreshment station about halfway at Gillooly’s. More forest singletrack means more time to test your nerves of steel as unseen Halloween visitors and legendary zombies pop out of nowhere.
The longer route will start at 7:30pm and the shorter route at 7:45pm after sunset. All runners must wear a light on their head (it’s pretty dark out there) as the moon only rises after 10:30pm.
Runners can choose whether they would like to be timed for results or not and Photosport will be present to capture the memories made on the routes.
When runners return to the finish they get free Coke and fruit, a 2023 Halloween medal and lekker live music from local Stellenbosch band, Akkedis! Muratie’s wine will be for sale per glass or per bottle as well as craft beers. While there, be sure to check out the delicious grab’n-go meals for sale.
