The origins of Islands on the River
Islands on the River emerged during the pandemic in 2020, showcasing the innovative spirit of Wolfkop Weekender. In response to social gathering limitations, the festival reinvented itself as a series of 10 mini-festivals, each accommodating 50 people along the picturesque Olifants River.
The concept was a resounding success and Islands on the River quickly gained popularity. Today, it stands as one of Wolfkop Weekender’s most sought-after events, offering an intimate and immersive experience.

With a limited capacity of 1,500 attendees, Islands on the River ensures a crowd that strikes the perfect balance between lively and intimate. Spread across 800 meters of sprawling green lawns, riverside hangout spots and scenic hiking trails, this boutique festival creates an inviting atmosphere for music enthusiasts of all ages.
