This year, the Sarmiethon Challenge invites corporations to assemble teams of volunteers to come together in the most heartwarming team-building event that has a significant impact on the lives of the less fortunate.
‘Every year we celebrate World Sandwich Day for one simple reason, because we have seen the power of a simple sandwich to provide relief to people who are starving and hungry. When children take the first bite of their sarmies and smile when it hits the hunger spot, you realise – a sandwich is priceless,’ says the organisation committed to food security for the less fortunate.
The Ladles of Love Sarmiethon events will take place on World Sandwich Day, 3 November at the V&A Waterfront Makers Landing in Cape Town and Old Eds in Houghton, Johannesburg.
Gather your family, friends and co-workers to come together for the ultimate sandwich-making competition.
How to get involved:
Corporates can sign up teams of volunteers to prepare sandwiches at sponsored venues such as V&A Makers Landing in Cape Town and Old Eds in Houghton, Johannesburg on Friday, 3 November.
Both businesses and the public can get involved in the Sarmiethon by purchasing sandwiches at R10 each through the online store at www.ladlesoflove.org.za. Each contribution will provide two meals to a child in need.
All sandwiches will go out to Ladles of Love’s network of ECDs and soup kitchens and provide much-needed meals for children in need, while proceeds help secure more food for their beneficiaries every week.
‘Let’s commemorate and share one of the simplest meals to make every day Sandwich Day this month!’ says Ladles of Love.
