On Saturday morning, 16 cyclists from across the country departed for “Ride Wild for Rhinos”, a seven day cycling trip raising funds for rhino conservation.
The cyclists began their trip at the Paxton Hotel in Nelson Mandela Bay, and will be making their way to Cape Town over the next few days. After a one-day rest next Saturday, they will all take part in the Cape Town Cycle Tour on Sunday.

The cyclists are working with Sharon Jessop, a Guiness World Record marathon runner who raises funds for the One Land Love It Foundation (OLLI), a local rhino conservation organisation led by Wayne and Nikki Bolton.
The cycle tour was started by Bradley Jafta seven years ago, Jessop explained, with the cyclists supporting a different charity each year.
“Sadly, Bradley passed away in 2021 but the show must go on and the 16 riders are more enthusiastic than ever to tackle the road to Cape Town. For some this will be their 7th tour!”
“This year they are cycling to raise further awareness and also funds for much needed rhino dehorning and collaring in the Eastern Cape, especially following the recent unfortunate spate of rhino poaching in the Eastern Cape,” she explained.
