Cape Town will host the annual Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10k on Mother’s Day, Sunday, 14 May 2023. Residents and motorists are advised of temporary road closures over the weekend in preparation for and during the event.

Celebrating its eighth year, the race has attracted more than 10,000 participants, including elite local athletes who are competing against some of the world’s best on their home turf.
Mayoral committee member for safety and security, Alderman JP Smith, said that the City of Cape Town was happy to be hosting this vibrant running event. He added that the event unites the local and international running communities.
‘We’re looking forward to the growth of the Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K and the many opportunities it presents for Cape Town, including job creation, increased tourism to our city and attracting business for local suppliers,’ said Alderman JP Smith.
The route and road closures
The race will commence at Woodbridge Island in Milnerton, with runners following the scenic Marine Drive coastline before turning onto the N1 and heading towards the bustling city bowl. The finish line will be located on Lower Long Street.
Residents and motorists are advised of temporary road closures on Saturday, 13 May 2023 and Sunday, 14 May 2023. A complete list of the affected roads can be found here.
Parking
Parking will be available in the vicinity of the Grand Parade and finish area. MyCiti buses will be available to transport participants to the start at Woodbridge Island.
The first MyCiTi bus is scheduled to depart from the Grand Parade at 5:30am, with the last bus departing at 7:40am.
