Jordan September, an 18-year-old matric learner who grew up in Ocean View, has been selected to represent South Africa at the 2023 Junior World Track Champs in Colombia, South America.
According to the People’s Post, O’Ryan Bruintjies, the director of the Kinetic Pro Cycling team, explained that Jordan became a member of the club three years ago. He reportedly began his cycling journey with the Fresh Start Cycling Club in Ocean View in 2019 and later joined the Kinetic Cycling Club in 2020 under the guidance of his coaches, Glen Bonthuys and Zarina van Schalkwyk.

Bruintjies claimed that right from the start, it was evident that Jordan possessed ‘above-average talent.’
Jordan achieved remarkable success after joining the Kinetic Pro Cycling team in 2020, winning titles such as Western Province, Western Cape, South African national, and African continental titles. Now, he is ready to represent his country at the prestigious World Track Championships in Colombia.
Jordan currently resides in Sunnydale and attends Fish Hoek High School.
Bruintjies commended him as a true ambassador for the nation and expressed gratitude to everyone involved in Jordan’s development and success on the global stage of cycling.
He said, ‘We are super proud of all Jordan’s achievements, and we believe he will be a true ambassador for South Africa. A special thanks to his supportive parents, Anton and Tania September.’
The young cyclist revealed that his journey into cycling was entirely coincidental.
‘At the start of 2019, I joined a small development team in my hometown, but it was all by chance,’ Jordan explained. ‘Cycling wasn’t something I had previously considered; it wasn’t an interest of mine despite seeing other kids ride often.’
Jordan claimed that it was actually his brother who wanted to try it, and he convinced Jordan to come along and give it a shot.
‘Well, the rest is history,’ he said.
