Cape Town’s Artscape Opera House is hosting a stunning Swan Lake production, performed by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and 60 elite dancers from around the world.
This classic tale of good versus evil is brought to life through Tchaikovsky’s timeless score and mesmerising choreography.
The ballet follows the story of Prince Siegfried, who falls in love with the Swan Queen, Odette, portrayed by prima ballerina Margarita Avdeeva and Irina Kolesnikova, the renowned ballerina of the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre.
The corps de ballet, swans and ballroom scenes will leave audiences in awe.
Despite being written over a century ago, Swan Lake still captures audiences with its power and popularity. It remains one of the most beloved ballets of all time and is performed regularly by major ballet companies across the globe.
The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra will play the full Swan Lake score, showcasing some of the finest musicians in South Africa. Due to the high demand for tickets, an additional performance has been added on 12 July at 7:30pm.
