After the 2020 convention was swept away just two weeks before showtime, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic; the highly anticipated South African International Tattoo Convention (SAITC) is making a comeback, promising another massive celebration of all things tattooing.
Tattooing is one of the oldest forms of art seen almost all over the world. It has historically been used as a means of expressing spirituality and identity.
Today, we add means of expressing individuality to the list as tattoos continue to gain social acceptance and popularity in these modern times.

Described as “one of the most highlighted events in the world tattoo convention calendar and the only one of its kind in Africa”, SAITC brings ink lovers and tattoo artists from across the globe together under one roof annually.
This year’s event will showcase over 140 tattoo artists from more than 20 countries, chosen as the best in their field and style of work.
The three-day event not only offers the chance to get inked by the best local and international artists in the world but will also offer live entertainment, with several local bands and DJs set to rock the stage.
Not to mention there will also be a beer tent, a deck bar, street food served by some of the best local food trucks around, and, of course, a specially curated marketplace teeming with unique, local designer products.
Tattoo enthusiast, convention co-founder and operator Romy van Tonder says: “We are most excited to see our community all under one roof, celebrating our love for tattooing and all that surrounds it. The public can look forward to seeing world-class tattooing, local bands, street food and much more… with good vibes only.”
