In their “Use Electricity Wisely” campaign, Eskom has released the following tips:
- Shower don’t bath – showers use up less water.
- Showers must be short, up to seven minutes only.
- When washing the face use the basin for water to rinse off the soap and when brushing teeth, do not leave the tap running rather use a cup to rinse after.
- Install power and water-saving shower heads. Showers with a flow rate of fewer than 10 litres per minute are recommended as they use less electricity therefore the geyser uses less electricity.
Remember to keep your electrical gadgets switched off during load shedding.
