Melomed Private Hospitals recently introduced little electric cars for its younger patients in a bid to reduce the anxiety children may feel when they are hospitalised. This follows the international trend of giving child patients battery-operated cars that they can drive around the paediatric ward in and have some fun.

The tiny convertibles give the young ones a thrill as they race around exploring the ward. The cars are fully functional and the children are safely fastened in with a seatbelt. The young drivers are always accompanied by an employee who has full remote control access of the car. A hospital in Leicester UK incorporated the method last year and it had amazing results, helping to ease the anxiety of a young girl who was about to go into theatre to have eight teeth surgically removed.

The cars will help children get from ward to ward, to the theatre and their designated treatment areas, giving them a pleasant experience and give them something to distract them from their possible anxiety.
