How many pairs of socks have you thrown away after a tiny rip started to form? How many pairs are hiding in your drawer right now? And how confidently are you rocking those ripped socks right at this very moment?
While some of us might feel embarrassed or ashamed when walking around with half of our big toe peeping out its head to say hello, others are beginning to embrace the freedom of the exposed toe.
This was seen after Navierto, a footwear store based in Egypt, recently dropped a fashion trend that has social media gasping, laughing and very concerned about the future of fashion.
Here’s a peek into the new collection:
And as you can imagine, social media has been blowing up ever since.
These are some of the responses that have surfaced:
– “and yet we do this for free”
– “so the fungus can breathe”
– “Its like a Balaclava but for your feet”
– “Most people buy new socks because their toenails cut through the end. We dont actually like when that happens.”
– “I can do this on my own, thanks”
– “There’s going to be an influx of people selling their used socks on eBay…
– “Like buying designer ripped jeans” (point made!)
Some were also tagging their friends on Facebook, hilariously throwing jabs at them for not cutting their toenails, or starting their own business.
Whether Navierto was serious about this endeavour is questionable but the bigger question to ask is: is this the future of fashion? And will you now be prancing around with your broken socks in order to keep up with the trend?
