City firefighters and rescue personnel have been battling a blaze on the corner of Victoria Road and Roodebloem Road in Woodstock, where a store reportedly caught fire shortly after 2pm.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but it is believed to have started shortly after 2pm, when the electricity was restored after loadshedding.

Employees of the City of Cape Town advised residents to stay away from the scene due to smoke inhalation.
Motorists have been diverted via Roodebloem Road, according to Twitter reports updated by Bush Radio News.
