An admin member of the popular Hiking Cape Town Facebook group confirmed that a female victim was raped in the Deer Park area this morning at around 9:30am.

According to the group, quick action from a neighbourhood watch member resulted in the rapist being caught while on the run through the neighbourhood.
Cape {town} Etc has reached out to SAPS and is pending a response.
Parkscape, another community group on Facebook, commented that this was not the first incident of its kind to be reported in recent weeks.
Additionally, a man was mugged by two suspects yesterday while going for a road run up to the Blockhouse. The victim was robbed of all his belongings, including his shoes.
Parkscape added that there have been some 20 incidents of crime reported between Signal Hill and the Pipe Track above Camps Bay.
‘The surge in incidents is close to being on par with the all-time high of recoded crime-related incidents in 2018 (per the Mountain Club database),’ said Parkscape.
‘This is deeply concerning, more so given we are only just heading towards peak season,’ added the group.
Table Mountain National Park users are urged to exercise extreme caution when recreating in any part of the park and to refrain from entering alone at any time.
