South Africans were left stunned when model, Lee-Ann Liebenberg took to Instagram to publicly call-out her entrepreneur husband, Nicky Van Der Walt’s alleged affair. In her Insta stories, Lee-Ann threw ‘the other woman’, Emily Kark under the bus, tagging her social media account for everyone to see and stating to her 108K followers that she “can have him.”
Just when Liebenberg thought she had the upper hand, with South Africans all over sympathising with her and hating on the alleged cheating couple, Kark hit back with legal action.
Not only did Lee-Ann have to make a public apology to Emily, but now faces legal action for defamatory allegations made against her on social media.
“I retract and apologise to Emily Kark for the allegations I made about her on 2 July 2021 on my Instagram page,” wrote Liebenberg on Instagram.
Following the initial Instagram stories shared by Lee-Ann, Emily deactivated her social media accounts. Since returning to the digital realm, Kark stated that Liebenberg’s apology is a result of the legal action she took.
Following the model’s apology, Emily took a screenshot of Lee-Ann’s story and shared it on her own page, tagging her legal firm, Roux Legal.
“The apology is the result of legal action taken by me because of the completely baseless and untrue defamatory allegations levelled against me,” wrote Kark.
“I would like to thank all of my friends and family for the love and support shown to me over the last few days. Also to my representation whom got the job done so quickly!” she added.
Meanwhile, the man in the middle, Nicky Van Der Walt, has finally broken silence. He took to social media to say his part, attributing the entire debacle to Lee-Ann’s “postpartum depression.”
“In response to my wife’s post. I love her and my children dearly and with all my heart. We are not getting a divorce. Lee is suffering from deep PPD (postpartum depression) and all I can do is try be there for her for the best of my family whom I love and respect with my whole being,” wrote Van Der Walt on his Instagram.
“I ask everyone to please give us some space to work through this and respect our family and pray for her to get better so we can put it behind us and focus on our beautiful children. Lee-Ann I love you with my whole heart baby. Always and forever,” he added, tagging his wife in the post.
Meanwhile, the family is celebrating their baby boy being four months old.
