The South African Air Force (SAAF) is scheduled to stage a flypast over the City Bowl ahead of the State of the Nation Address (Sona) this evening.

Two Gripen aircraft, joined by a BAE Systems Hawk trainer from the Test Flight and Development Centre (TFDC) at AFB Overberg in the Southern Cape, will form a formation soaring over the City Bowl at approximately 6:50pm.
They will be accompanied by the Pilatus PC-7 Mk II trainers from AFB Langebaanweg, Defenceweb reports.

This flypast comes on the heels of the SAAF Prestige Parade last week, commemorating 104 years of the collective heritage and history of the SAAF.
During their time in the Cape, pilots from 2 Squadron are expected to carry out additional training sorties across the Western and Southern Cape.
Flown by 2 Squadron, the main fighter unit of the SAAF stationed at Air Force Base Makhado in Limpopo, a single-seat C model and a dual-seat D model all made the journey from Johannesburg to Cape Town for the event.
The Sona is scheduled to take place at 7pm at Cape Town City Hall.
