Santaco Western Cape chairperson, Mandla Hermanus, has announced that its stayaway in Cape Town has been called off with immediate effect.
The announcement follows intense deliberation after Santaco met with the City of Cape Town and the Western Cape government this afternoon, who said they put forward a ‘very reasonable’ offer during negotiations.

Hermanus said ‘From tomorrow, our taxis are going back to operation. We are calling off the stayaway and what we will do is ensure that we go back to the task team to finalise some of the issues that we have not yet agreed on.’
Hermanus also apologised to the public for the distress and inconvenience that the stayaway has caused.
