There’s a unique pleasure in opening an older vintage of wine. The wine has settled into itself, the nose and palate have reached perfection, and the first sip is just elevating. If you haven’t had the patience to keep a bottle of wine for years, or your vintage collection is lacking, Bouchard Finlayson is releasing a collection of older vintages hand-picked by the cellar master Peter Finlayson.
Dubbed Peter Picks, Bouchard Finlayson will be selling this elite selection of wine at the cellar door of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley winery outside Hermanus. Expect absolute gems from their collection, including 18-year old red wines that have been cellared in the best possible conditions.
Two of the new Peter’s Picks include vintages of Bouchard Finlayson’s renowned and award-winning Galpin Peak, from 1998 and 2001 respectively. Not only is it the estate’s flagship wine, it’s also the wine that earned Peter the honorary title of ‘South Africa’s Pinot pioneer’. Other great vintages in the collection include a limited edition bottle of Bouchard Finlayson Tête de Cuvée, The Kaaimansgat/Crocodile’s Lair and a limited edition Kaaimansgat Chardonnay.
