South Africans can expect another Covid-19 wave in September but it will not result in any severe restrictions as per health experts.
“The biggest issue is the vaccination uptake as it is very low and we need to increase it as quickly as possible as we may not be out of the woods yet. I don’t think the concept of herd immunity is realistic also, says Barry Schoub, leading virologist as he speaks to Enca news channel.

Meanwhile, Professor of vaccinology Shabir Madhi stated that poor planning and incorrect decision-making around the Covid-19 vaccine in South Africa played a role in inequity in vaccine access.
