According to News24, a 17-year-old boy has gone missing while swimming at Monwabisi beach.
After not returning from swimming in the water on Saturday, his family reported his absence to officials.
Members of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), City of Cape Town (COCT) lifeguards, police and law enforcement officers have conducted a search at the Wolfgat Nature Reserve.
So far, there are no signs of the boy.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon says: “On Sunday, a search by the police dive unit is continuing; they are being joined by a law enforcement marine unit, COCT lifeguards, and NSRI Strandfontein to continue searching for the missing teenager.”
Lambinon reminds people to only swim at beaches where there are lifeguards are on duty.
