Twenty-four-year-old Kyle Ruiters is appearing in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court today after he was found with the dismembered body of resident, Lynette Volschenk (32). Police found Volschenk chopped into pieces in two different apartments in the Seesig apartment building in Bellville.

It is widely-believed that Ruiters is the son of Cape Town Aadvocate Theresa Ruiters, who specialises in criminal law. She is also a member of the Cape Town Bar.

Ruiters, who is being accused of the gruesome murder, is a former student of Wynberg Boys’ High School and lives with a relative in the same building as Volschenk. She lived on the 10th floor, while Ruiters lives on the 9th.

Neighbours reported hearing a woman scream on the evening of Wednesday, August 21, and this was accompanied by banging noises, but no one bothered to investigate. When she did not show up to work the following day, her sister and two co-workers went looking for her.

A report by Die Burger claims that parts of Volschenk’s body was found in her apartment, as well as Ruiters’. It is also alleged that her head was sawed off and found in bushes in the apartment complex, and that the accused was painting the walls of her apartment when he was discovered. The walls were said to be covered in Volschenk’s blood.

There are also reports the Ruiters may have been high when he allegedly committed the murder.
