It’s been reported that the other five victims, between the ages of 15 and 27, were seriously injured and taken to a local hospital.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Novella Potelwa, says reinforcements have been deployed at the Nyanga taxi rank in a bid to apprehend the suspects and prevent further criminal acts.
Meanwhile, in a separate report widely shared on social media, taxi drivers in Nyanga arrested four suspects and cut their private parts off.
It is alleged the four hijacked a Toyota Avanza, which was later used for robbery, and subsequently raped a female occupant.
Police and paramedics attended to a suspect who survived the ordeal, but his tongue was also cut.
Three of the suspects died from their injuries.
Circumstances surrounding the incident(s) are currently the subject of a police investigation.
Detectives are following up on all leads, including the possibility that the motive is a vigilante attack.
The two incidents have been reported separately; however, the similarities in the case details have not yet been confirmed as related.
More to follow.
